Bookmaking with Children

by rovingfiddlehead on October 27, 2011

Writing and reading go hand in hand. Bookmaking activities for children are a natural fit for library programs. Here are some ideas from around the web worth exploring:

Books made from paint chips at Crow Rooster Crow.

Scratch and Sniff Books with Jello on My Oatmeal Kisses. Touch, sight and smell all in one project. Brilliant!

Brown Paper Bag books at Blissfully Domestic: button book, accordian book, step book and portfolio book

Accordion Books at Bird and Little Bird

Miniature Center-Stitched Book by Bird and Little Bird. This one’s more complicated than the others, but my library had a very successful program making books this way for Grades 4–6.
