Flannel Friday: Five Little Chickadees Flannelboard

by rovingfiddlehead on July 1, 2011

Inspired by Lisa Monet’s calypso version of Five Little Chickadees that Katie at Storytime Secrets introduced me to, I made five chickadees on milk filters. A Google image search led me to the chickadee template.

I think ilk filters are awesome for flannelboards. They are thin, cheap and easy to trace over. You can purchase them at a farm supply store like Thiesen’s. I don’t have an Accucut machine or large milk filters, but have heard from This Happy Stuff that they work with them and can be run through a printer if you cut them to 8 1/2 x 11.

For more Flannel Friday ideas, search #flannelfriday on Twitter. This week’s round up is hosted at Sharing Soda by Katie, @sharingsoda. Links to all past Flannel Friday posts can be found at So Tomorrow.

  1. Oh, they’re so dear! Interfacing from the fabric store works the same as milk filters too :)

Super cute! But what the heck is a milk filter? Googling…

  3. i love your chickadees…they’re so mod! I also had to google milk filters, but once i did, I realized this is a great tip. Thanks

So do I understand correctly that you can PRINT directly on them? Do you know more about that — inkjet or laser?
