Flannel Friday: Nocturnal Animals Flannelboard

by rovingfiddlehead on March 30, 2012

A storytime theme sure to come up at some point during the Summer Reading Program is nocturnal animals. Beginning with one of the owls I made from Sunflower Storytime’s template, I made animals to place on the flannelboard while we listen to the song, “Nocturnal Animals” by Nancy Music. Both lyrics and music are available at the site.

Chorus:
On a moonlit night when the stars come out
There are nocturnal animals all about.

Each verse introduces a different animal beginning with an owl.

Cat (mine is grey so it shows up on the nighttime flannelboard. Easy lyric adaptation)

Bat

Tree Frog

Dormouse (looks more like a short-legged capybara or a hamster, but hamsters are nocturnal so “it’s all good”)

The nighttime gang
