Flannel Friday Roundup April 26

April 25, 2013

Flannel Friday Logo

Another week of fabulous Flannel Friday contributions! I never cease to be amazed with the creativity each week. Thanks so much to everybody who shared this week.

Books to Flannelboards

Linda of Notes from the Story Room continues her inspiring series, “Telling a Story Five Ways,” using props to tell the story of The Fisherman and His Wife

With multiple copies of each key, Lisa at Thrive After Three has made an interactive Goodnight Gorilla.

Mollie at What Happened in Storytime has a bright, colourful version of Have You Seen My Blue Sock? by Eve Bunting

Storytime Katie brings us a beautiful version of the perfect-for-flannelboard Mouse Paint

Andrea at Librarian vs Storytime has Arnold Lobe’s Mouse Tales ready for her wind storytime next week

Piper Loves the Library tells Pete the Cat with the aid of story stones, a new-to-me, but fabulous storytelling device! (More from Jane below too!)

Up in the Air

Kathryn of Fun with Friends at Storytime adapted Pretty Balloons for a hot air balloons storytime. Pretty sure the glitter balloon was a HUGE hit!

Miss Meg’s Storytime has a set of planets for One Little, Two Little, Three Little Planets to go with her space storytime plan. Her spaceship craft could also be flannelized.

Poetry

It’s fitting that there are some straight-up rhymes since it’s National Poetry Month.

I Planted a Whistle by Jack Prelutsky at What Bridget is Reading

Delicious Alligator Pie is featured by Anna at Future Librarian Superhero

Lisa at Libraryland shares two Five Senses flannel rhymes from her Music and Movement storytime: “Two Little Eyes to Look Around” and “If a Bird You Want to Hear” which she turned into a game.

Animals

Mrs. Andre’s Library must know I’ve got a hedgehog obsession since she brought out Five Little Hedgehogs.

For Arbor Day, Sandy from Storytime Sparks uses Beanie Babies for a fun game of Who is Hiding in the Tree?

Spreading the Flannel Love

Jane from Piper Loves the Library, Kari Ann and Heather are presenting The Flannel Panel at the Connecticut Library Association Conference. Jane’s prepared a great write-up of what they will present as well her gussied-up flannels, all ready for showtime.

And a third contribution from Jane as she preps for the conference (we’re almost as lucky as the attendees!), Popsicle Kid (with spare tongues for the kiddos)!

These cute little hedgehogs are a hit every time I do them. I make sure to include the book, One Rainy Day by Christina Butler.

Here’s another version for 5 Little hedgehogs:
5 Little hedgehogs rolled up by the door,
1 wobbles off and now there are 4.
4 Little hedgehogs underneath a tree,
1 wobbles off and now there are 3.
3 Little hedgehogs wondering what to do,
1 wobbles off and now there are 2.
2 Little hedgehogs digging in the sun,
1 wobbles off and now there is 1.
1 Little hedgehog snuffling all alone.
He wobbles off and now there is none.

  2. Thank you for hosting this week! Have you seen the recycled book craft hedgehog popping up on pinterest?
