Silk Friday: Chinese Zodiac Animals

Chinese Zodiac Animals

Neither flannel nor crafting on my part this week, but a beautiful contribution nonetheless. On my recent trip to China, I purchased this chain of embroidered Chinese zodiac animals. Isn’t it stunning?!

It will be used mostly around Chinese New Year’s, but I also look forward to getting it out for animal songs like “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” I’m sure he’s always wanted a dragon. It was made in Shaanxi Province so here’s a gratuitous vacation shot of the area’s most famous vacation attraction, the amazing terracotta warriors.

  1. They’re lovely Andrea – my favourite is the goat. I can see that the kids will have a lot of fun with Old MacDonald’s Dragon, or maybe ‘Old MacDonald had a Menagerie, ee-ey, ee-ey-o’!
