Silk Friday: Chinese Zodiac Animals

on April 13, 2012

Neither flannel nor crafting on my part this week, but a beautiful contribution nonetheless. On my recent trip to China, I purchased this chain of embroidered Chinese zodiac animals. Isn’t it stunning?!

It will be used mostly around Chinese New Year’s, but I also look forward to getting it out for animal songs like “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” I’m sure he’s always wanted a dragon. It was made in Shaanxi Province so here’s a gratuitous vacation shot of the area’s most famous vacation attraction, the amazing terracotta warriors.

Today’s Flannel Friday host is Library Quine at Loons and Quines. You can also find past and future roundups at So Tomorrow. For a visual round-up of all postings, check out Flannel Friday on Pinterest.

  1. They’re lovely Andrea — my favourite is the goat. I can see that the kids will have a lot of fun with Old MacDonald’s Dragon, or maybe ‘Old MacDonald had a Menagerie, ee-ey, ee-ey-o’!
