In this video, song is used to accompany a game to find which house the mouse hides behind.
In practice, you can vary the game with children either cycling through the houses sequentially, or by inviting them to participate and choose a color. The latter would allow the children to ‘win’ in they choose the correct color. Repeat the game over and over to allow children to count up their score as they ‘win’ each round.
Each round of the song goes…
Little mouse little mouse are you in the (purple) house
Little mouse little mouse are you in the (purple) house…
Then check under that color. Repeat until the mouse is found!
Of course, you can get as creative as you like with the game, swapping the houses and mice for other places and animals.
To get even more engaging with children, why not have colored zones in the classroom and ask children to hide, one in each area and try to find a named child walking around to the rhyme.
