Flannel Friday Inspiration: Five Hoot Owls Flannelboard

by rovingfiddlehead on June 22, 2011

I am so glad that Melissa got Flannel Friday started. There is so much creativity in the library community and I’ve really enjoyed learning from everybody so much about how their storytimes work as well as the actual flannelboard ideas presented. I’ve actually done more than just bookmark some of the ideas and started making some of them! Thus begins my own subcategory, Flannel Friday Inspiration.

The rhyme and pattern for Five Hoot Owls comes from Sunflower Storytime via Storytime Katie’s Flannel Friday post.

Five hoot owls sitting in a tree
One flew away! How many do you see?
One, two, three, four.

Four hoot owls… etc.

I also made a fall owl in a bit more realistic colours to use with general bird storytimes.

For Flannel Friday ideas, search #flannelfriday on Twitter. Links to all past Flannel Friday posts can be found at So Tomorrow.
