Mollie made an ice cream flannelboard back when the weather was warm, but ice cream is good year-round, right? Being such a fan of food-themed storytimes, I made not 1 but 2 versions, felt and milk filter. I like the bright colours of the felt better, but the milk filters work well as tracing paper so I cut the two layers at the same time and ended up with two versions in one go. I don’t do this for fancy flannelboards, but for simple ones I do and put the second set in my travel collection (for that day when I work overseas). Two versions can also come in handy if your library has multiple staff doing outreach, especially around holidays when everybody is maneuvering for the Five Little Pumpkins.
The pattern is from Felt Board Fun by Liz and Dick Wilmes.
There’s an Ice Cream Storytime over at Step by Step with lots of rhymes these can be used with. As well, Ice Cream Song can be found in The Big Book of Stories, Songs, and Sing-Alongs by Beth Maddigan and Stefanie Drennan.
